This part is set at the end of the Serra da Estrela glacial valley, in a steep schist-cladded landscape where the generous and fertile nature of the Zêzere River is apparent everywhere, as it meanders through cultivated land, orchards, woods and riparian forests. It is a highly sought-after sport fishing spot, and its cuisine is very rich and diverse. As it is right in the middle of Cova da Beira, boxed in between the Estrela and Gardunha mountains, the micro climate found in this region is perfect for the production of fruit, particularly peaches, which are a constant feature in the surrounding landscape. Here we also pass through the epicentre of the wool industry.
