With an average of 3.000 hours of sunshine and pleasant temperatures, even during winter, the weather in Portugal may vary from region to region, being cooler in the north and warmer in the south. Usually, summers are hot and dry throughout the whole territory, as opposed to cooler winters with snow periods in the northern regions.

In the archipelago of Madeira, due to its geographical location and subtropical features, average temperatures are around 24º C in summer and 19º C in winter. In Azores, there are also pleasant temperatures throughout the year, but rainy periods are more frequent.

Cycling and Walking activities favour direct contact with nature, so you must bear in mind all instructions about the recommended seasons (September to June) and weather conditions: temperature, cloudiness, wind speed and direction, and rain. We strongly recommend you to not engage in activities in extremely hot days or rainy and strong wind days.
