Leaving Almeida by the fortress ring road, the route goes north until reaching Malpartida, continuing on plains until approaching the River Tourões, natural border with Spain. Continue on dirt, until near Vermiosa, passing the Cruzeiro de Roquilho until reaching Almofala. Continue north, until converging on the road towards Mata de Lobos. After a small stretch of asphalt, the route leaves the road on the right to continue on dirt road, crossing agricultural land until passing Mata de Lobos. From here the route changes direction and heads west, where you will cross the Aguiar stream and, together with the PR3, climb up to the Historical Village of Castelo Rodrigo, passing by the convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar.
