The barrocal is an area lying between the coast and the uplands. Consists of flat terrain and limestone hills, covered in bushy vegetation and a variety of trees, where the Mediterranean influence is clear. The fertile lands are ideal for mixed dryland orchards of carob, fig, almond and olive. This is home to many species of animals, including a variety of birdlife. Nestled among hills and valleys, are villages and towns with history and traditions that a prideful population is determined to preserve.
