From the centre of Bensafrim, the route heads towards the South west, where the terrain is flat, allowing walkers to quickly reach Barão de São João and enter the Forestry District of Barão de São João by turning towards the northwest. A typical mountain landscape once again serves as a backdrop as hills and valleys are crossed one after another along the length of the route. You arrive in Sesmarias along with another change in the landscape - the route is encircled by an extensive agricultural plateau, where travellers can also find the Budens Lagoon. It is from this sector that the sea can be spotted for the first time!

Extensive pasture land and farmed fields show that you are getting close to the old “Breadbasket of the Algarve”, Vila do Bispo.
