The route still continues southwards on country roads, in a region that is initially quite flat, but quickly starts to reveal the typical skylines of the Algarve mountains, with ravines and water channels. When you pass through Palmeira, you can get a good look at the rural world’s traditional architecture. The landscape alternates between wooded areas and dense cistus patches before crossing the Foupana river. This is a great adventure, but you should pay attention to currents before crossing to the other side. Next, the route enters a cork oak forest, with a denser canopy, before arriving at Corte Velha. Close to Furnazinhas you pass a water tank on top of a hill and descend down a cobbled ramp.
