Starting at the Praça da República, in the centre of Tavira, this route coincides with Ecovia do Litoral as far as Cabanas de Tavira. Riding alongside the Ria Formosa, you can find the traditional saltpans and the Almargem stream, both of great natural beauty. With Cabanas de Tavira behind you, the route takes you northwards, to Santa Rita and the Mata Nacional de Conceição. Crossing this thicket area, head to Fonte Salgada and then turn westwards, passing the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Saúde. After crossing the Gilão river, close to Pego do Inferno, go uphill to the village of Santo Estêvão.
