The trail starts at Regional Road ER120 and, following the way to the top of Pico Branco we come across of huge prismatic formation in which the footpath itself was commonly designated as "Rocha Quebrada" The steepest climb of the walk finishes near a ricky formation designated "Crista do Cabeço". This footpath continues through a shrubby area covered by Monterey cypresses (Cupressus macrocarpa). After reaching a junction you can take directions on the right to Terra Chã or to the left to Pico Branco the second highest peak of the island. This area is part of the European Network Important community Sites- Natura 2000 Network, directive habitats, since it evidences flora and fauna endemic specimens (eathbound shellfish-snails). At Terra Chã there is a house, in times gave support to propagate endemic plants, to reintroduce them into the environment and to carry forward scientific research and nowadays allows by prior request, to be enjoyed by the community. This trail was built with purpose of giving way to cargo mules, by the time barley was farmed by locals at Terra Chã. Return is done on the same footpath.
