Situated in one of the most attractive Portuguese historical villages, INATEL Piódão is a contemporary building built entirely out of slate, which reflects the most authentic characteristics of the village. Nestled in the Serra do Açor Mountains, just 300 meters from Piódão, the hotel is integrated into the landscape of the slate village. The settlement is laid out along the slope like an amphitheatre since the mountains here are quite steep and village had to adapt to the terrain. The streets are therefore narrow and small, around the edges of the mountain, curving along the slope and forming the nucleus of the village. It has been dubbed the “Nativity Scene Village.
