On the banks of the Lima River, the ecotrail stretches about 70 kilometres through the municipalities of Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca and Arcos de Valdevez. Rural roadways beside rivers, through meadows, past fishing points along the lamprey spawning grounds and wooden footbridges cross through the Protected Area and Wetlands of International Importance of the Bertiandos and S. Pedro d’Arcos Lakes. This whole area is part of the network of Natura 2000, meaning it is a source of natural and cultural wealth. Some municipalities make up part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves and others the Peneda-Gerês National Park.

If this route is your choice, check out the company programmes if you prefer joining an organized trip, or go to the available support services that you will find along your way.
