It starts with views over the Berlengas archipelago, listed as a nature reserve and located just a few miles from Cape Carvoeiro. Following the route northwards, the horizon is dotted with beaches until reaching Óbidos lagoon, the largest coastal lagoon system on the Portuguese coastline. The route runs around the lagoon, passing close to the village of Óbidos that is well worth visiting. Further north you can also visit Caldas da Rainha. The route ends at Foz do Arelho, where a dip in the sea is a very inviting prospect.
