It is the Algarve’s largest district, containing some of the region’s most traditional villages. During this route among crags and mountains, you can be overwhelmed by the friendly folk in the hinterland, and extraordinary beautiful landscapes. Leave Loulé on a continuously undulating route towards São Brás de Alportel, from where there is a descent towards the peaceful village of Querença. Continue towards Ribeira de Algibre as far as Tôr, a village where a demanding climb awaits. In Salir, head towards Benafim with the backdrop of the Rocha da Pena protected area. The grand scenery gives you strength for two more climbs: first to Alto Fica and then to Parragil.
