After passing Vaqueiros, the route continues towards the south west, giving you the chance to contemplate traditional small fields, marked out by old stone walls and water channels. You’ll pass through some small and charming hamlets, such as Monchique, Amoreira and Casa Baixas. Architectural heritage in the area includes interesting features such as fountains, wells, norias, threshing floors and several ancient architectural details. In Casa Baixasa, walkers can spend the night in the welcome centre, a refurbished primary school.

The journey to Cachopo is very pleasant, through a dense cork oak forest of great natural beauty.
