With a length of 21 km and a short cut that brings the distance down to around 15.5 km, this route skirts around the east side of the central plateaus, allowing the main features of this region to be observed and affording unique and stunning views over the immense lands of Riba-Côa. Set in a charming natural and man made landscape, the route highlights the connections between the historical village of Trancoso and the village of Moreira de Rei. Here, it is possible to understand the extraordinary strategic positioning of the centuries-old castles that gave origin to the two settlements, used for centuries by the guardians of the plateau to defend this territory.
