After passing Vaqueiros, the route continues towards the south west, giving you the chance to contemplate traditional small fields, marked out by old stone walls and water channels. The journey to Cachopo is very pleasant, through a dense cork oak forest of great natural beauty.
The route continues into the challenging Caldeirão mountains, with very winding and rugged terrain, demanding ascents and descents into areas of verdant valleys.
The final part of the route starts in Barranco o Velho, in a relatively flat area. You then descend towards Carrascalinho, along a tree-lined and attractive ravine. It is worth stopping on the banks of the Seco River for a break and to mark the forthcoming start of the Barrocal region where a change in landscape can be seen, particularly due to the presence of large dry farming fields. Ancient walled roads soon make their presence felt, along with scattered houses in a dense Almond grove, until reaching Salir.
