Starting and ending at the wall of the historical village of Sortelha, this is a high quality and very interesting route. It has sections that run along ancient paths that are all but abandoned today, making the route all the more worthwhile. In addition to having a central theme focused on the medieval period it has other points of interest, specifically fabulous views over the valley, medieval paths and old mines. Despite not being a short or easy route, it mainly uses medieval trails, farm tracks and paths, which makes it very high quality. It only uses tarmac roads for short urban sections, and the stretch beside the Quarta Feira link road.
